This was an embarrassing story as there was this viral video of Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and his company’s Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot who were apparently at a Coldplay concert where they were picked out with the crowd camera and displayed on the Jumbotron. Usually, people would be having fun with this but apparently, they are both married to other people and they were secretly cheating together. So, imagine that when this camera caught the two of them embracing as they immediately gave distraught reactions as they know they have been caught on tape.
The CEO had to even address this officially since it was global news now with all the points you would expect such as apologizing for his actions. It’s so much more damaging for a person at such a high-ranking position as you could literally take the company down with you if the scandal gets big enough as no one will focus on the actual offerings of the company versus how the company is run by a “cheater” per se. In some cases, people need to resign or quit due to the negative attention.
Usually it’s only celebrities that need to worry about public image in these ways and getting caught on camera. But this shows high ranking CEOs are placed under the same scrutiny.
