Assuming People Want Fancy Items

This got me thinking as today I agreed to hangout with a person where we decided to get dinner and I was kind of shocked at the prices for the restaurant the person chose. The quality seemed good but this was one of those places that was more formal and the portion sizes were small. Afterwards the person kept observing the other restaurants in the area they wanted to try and they made a funny comment on whether or not I would like a particular place as it didn’t seem very high end.

To me, I actually preferred the places that offered the best value as I usually don’t even dine out in general unless it is for a special occasion. We even passed by some fast-food restaurants like a Popeyes as the person was saying they wanted to go there. I commented how even a place like that is good enough in my mind. It’s one of those things for some reason where people assume you must want fancy food if financially you are say stable or if people are very wealthy.

It’s usually the complete opposite as I find people who say saved up a lot usually got there out of habit and avoiding expensive restaurants for home cooked meals instead is a common habit. No different than say those wealthy people who wear the cheapest clothes with the most low end basic haircuts you can think of.
