I recently heard of a free event that was happening which seemed to be just a simple speaker panel of sort as industry professionals will be sharing their thoughts which can be valuable for people to learn. I was looking at the panel of guests and one name stood out to me in a not so good way. I remember specifically hearing in-person of someone who worked with this individual and how they were constantly dismissive as a contractor to the point where regardless of how much they tried they realized they needed to move on. He described how the person was very angry after too but I guess you can say they could have fixed it a long time ago if they wanted.
The thing is, I never met the person myself of course. But hearing this one bad story has stuck on my mind whenever I hear the person’s name. I guess it is kind of unfair. But this shows you the power of word-of-mouth reviews of various businesses as you tend to trust people who have first hand experience with various businesses versus what is written on accompany site as an example.
This is no different than reading bad reviews on an online shopping site as that one negative remark is often powerful enough to encourage a large portion of the population to keep their distance. In this case, it wasn’t exactly a publicly advertised comment too. But you can see as they say people talk.
