There was an award show for video games today which is essentially the game industry’s version of the Oscars where various companies are recognized for their outstanding achievements in various industries. There was some controversy as apparently the winner this year was a game called Astro Bot that seems to revolve heavily in promoting the PlayStation brand where many felt it was rigged per se. I bet most people probably never heard of the game as well. But with that said, this award might help to elevate the game and studio.
That was a point brought up with a previous winner on how winning the award completely changed their lives. It makes you wonder if businesses actually aim to win these kinds of awards as a business strategy for growth versus just creating something good that gets worldwide recognition. I know there are literally award programs that people pay money to win a most people don’t even bother to check what the award is about as the recipient uses it as a way to increase their credibility to the average person.
I am sure anyone would be keen to learn more or do business with the “award winning” company as an example in any industry. That’s why some industry peers actually just invent their own awards show for such purposes as it helps them to stand out from the rest.
