There was a lot of news today about the genetics testing company 23andMe filing for bankruptcy and one thing that immediately came to people’s mind was how a large database of people’s genetics can essentially be sold to anyone. Therefore, a lot of sources were encouraging people to request to have their information deleted from the company.
I am always skeptical of these types of businesses. As well, I noticed some companies nowadays are actually trying to force people to use their finger prints as the main form of ID in order to use a company’s products. For example, there are literally apps that require the user to use their fingerprint scanner as the means to login versus just a PIN. To me that makes it a little suspicious.
Something to think about whenever it involves your personal information in these ways that involve some kind of business transaction.
