There was a crowdfunding story I was reading where the product had to be delayed according to the company and it listed reasons such as supplier issues. They also mentioned how they are still a new company and therefore are still working in becoming professionally functional I guess you could say. Kind of like how if you see a trainee badge on someone you are more inclined to be understanding of mishaps.

The interesting things was how many people brought up that the company wasn’t really that new and has been making similar products for a while. Therefore it is kind of misleading for them to constantly label themselves as a new company to warrant the delays and quality control issues. Makes you wonder, when do you think a business can’t call itself new anymore?

For example, some people would say a three year old company is still new whereas others wouldn’t. Many would say one year in business is really the only time you can say you are new. I know for myself when I hear a new company I am thinking two years or less. Afterwards at most I would say the company is a smaller player if they are still trying to grow as opposed to saying they are new. It’s a little misleading I think to say for example a three year old business is new as a way to gain customer support I feel.
