I was reading about this crowdfunding campaign where it was successfully funded and usually the way it goes is whoever backed the project earlier usually gets priority for the product and as well a huge discount as an incentive. As well it\u2019s not surprising where most companies fail to deliver on the exact promised date. This one was interesting though as apparently some time during the production process a separate organization that didn\u2019t back the project offered to purchase a large inventory of the company\u2019s product to sell in its stores. To accept this offer would mean they would have to give the products to them first as opposed to the backers. Eventually they chose to give it to that company which made the original backers mad of course.<\/p>\n
Makes you think if you were in that situation where you technically had the flexibility to do so would you honor your agreement or go where the money is? I guess another example using a real company would be like if you have some kind of life changing product that was intended to be sold to your local community to people that really wanted it and then all of a sudden Walmart tells you they will buy all your inventory while giving you retail shelf space which one would you go with?<\/p>\n
It\u2019s probably a lot harder if you are actually in that situation and assuming you are a fresh start up company as that opportunity seems too big to pass up. It felt like in the above example being scold by people was worth it to them.
