It has been awhile too where financially the family really had to grind down the finance due to having one less income source. While she was offered some jobs before, she didn’t go for many of them due to the pay where she felt it was low for her experience. Just recently she was offered a full time position where the employer offered her $28,000 a year and asked if she was okay with that. She expressed how she wanted $30,000 and the employer then mentioned that they would get back to her.

Thinking about it, would you turn down a full time job if you were unemployed based on an 8% a year difference? I was heard mixed reactions to this depending on the person’s background. Some may say you should just take it as you need something where it will give you more experience as well. Others would say you shouldn’t if you feel truly deserve more as you are undervaluing yourself.

I’ve personally done it both ways depending on the circumstance. I remember before there was company I worked with where I genuinely wanted to work for the business out of passion but at the same time they knew that my skill-sets were extremely valuable where it should demand a higher rate. They really wanted to hire me still even though the rate I told them which I felt would be fair was high compared to the average person. In the end, I agreed to work for them even at the lower rate as if I had the same qualifications with everyone else.

What eventually happened though is that my genuine passion for the job led me to produce the best results where the bonuses I received made it as if I was employed at the higher rate. It was then interesting in contrast to see other people who started at the same time as me complain about the pay where the base is so low and they can’t make a living out of it. While I do agree it was low, many times like this with hard work you can turn things around yourself as the focus should be more about whether or not the opportunity itself is good for you I feel.

I feel the only real exception is if you are doing a job 100% just for money where you don’t feel you will learn any new skills or opportunities to grow in life. To me, the opportunity itself is more important than a tiny difference like this.

Today I heard a story on how a person I knew was unemployed and therefore needed a job.
