This probably sounds weird for a lot of people as usually when you are a tourist you want to try and dine out at the best restaurants that the city has to offer. However, as mentioned this trip isn\u2019t a vacation per se and so my mindset is to treat it as a regular day when it comes to budgeting. That means when it comes to food my first thought was to try and research what local places are the best to go to buy fresh groceries and to prepare my own meals as much as possible. Fortunately I knew some people that actually lived in the area.<\/p>\n
Is this considered too strange? As I wrote before, it would kind of be different if I actually planned like a vacation with a budget attached to it. Since everything is so last minute for this it just seems fiscally irresponsible for myself to start spending like say $20 for a meal. Another benefit in going to with the groceries route I thought was that it would give me a better perspective of prices when it comes to fresh food and produce.<\/p>\n
The challenge of course is actually cooking the food as you don\u2019t exactly have your home kitchen with you when you travel. Maybe that\u2019s something to keep in mind when you are traveling and want to save money too. Basically, get accommodations that give you access to like a good kitchen and you will probably be able to save a ton on food expense just by shopping and cooking as if you were home still. Or maybe I should learn how people do those raw diets where no cooking is required.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
