My mom went into story talk mode today and a topic came on how my brother and I are so different when it comes to managing money. She then explained her theory on why she thought I became so aware of money to the point that I am very diligent with it. It was funny as she was attributing it to how when I was a child apparently I wouldn\u2019t go to sleep cooperatively. So I was told that what my grandmother would do is give me a quarter and apparently I would hold onto this quarter which made me fall asleep. As you can imagine, I collected a lot of quarters as a result.<\/p>\n
There was a multitude of factors. However, the biggest one I always say is because as a child I always heard my parents arguing and grieving over money related issues. They say kids pick up everything and I can attest that to be true. It essentially put me in a mindset where money is something that affects people a lot where you need to learn how to manage it to be in control of your life.<\/p>\n
She also mentioned that she felt because the family always bought no name products such as clothes it molded my brother into someone who always wanted the expensive name brand items. If you think about it, technically I should have been the same since I was getting no name products too. Afterwards, my theory was more because since I was the youngest I often had to play the role of the observer as the bigger brothers did stuff. So it gave me more time to really think and process on the best ways to utilize money and essentially using older people as an example of what happens when you make certain choices with it.<\/p>\n
I still to a certain extent use that as a way to learn about money whether it\u2019s spending or investing it. One thing is for sure, it all started at a very early age for me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
