As a result, I tend to make better financial decisions in order to reach that goal. I was then trying to think how I personally avoid that mentality as there are times where even I have those thoughts to just spend regardless if the asking price seems ridiculous as fund wise I have more than enough to accommodate it.

This might sound a little strange, but I think helping the less fortunate is what keeps me in check for things like this. I didn’t exactly grow up in a wealthy family which definitely helped to mold my financial sense. At the same time, volunteering my time to help people or organizations in need constantly gives me the perspective on how many people could do so much with the money I would be thinking of just recklessly spending. As a result, it’s one of those constant reminders that I should be financially responsible.

Everyone has their own way of course, but I find this way to be rewarding. Fortunately it just makes you view your money in a constructive way whenever you need to make financial decisions in correlation with the total amount of funds you have.

I often say that constantly reviewing how many funds you have saved up is often a good motivator in trying to get the number as high as possible.
