I was reading a note today on how there was a person who was adopting the mentality of if certain people around you are extremely negative about your business and aspirations then it’s best to simply disassociate with them. Essentially you don’t want people to drag you down so you could instead focus your energy in building your business and having people that want to actually help you instead.<\/p>\n
In this case though the person took it to the extreme it seemed where anyone who was slightly negative even to the point of trying to be a little critical was cut off. Funny enough this created a situation where the person was a little too bias where their business ended up not doing too good as they simply focused on a certain category of people. Basically people who simply agreed. This created an environment where one is completely ignoring potentially legitimate concerns and then addressing them appropriately.<\/p>\n
It’s one thing to not want to let negative people get to you. It’s another to think that everyone must always agree with you. I tend to find that you need at least some kind of skeptic in whatever it is you are doing as this way it keeps you a little more grounded and open minded to potentially making something better. At the same time it can be a good way to prepare you for the types of tough questions and concerns you may need to confront in the future.
