I was reading about this company today where it seemed like they actually tried to establish various clubs specifically as a way to advertise its main business. The person was saying too how people create hobby clubs and such all the time and that it’s a non intrusive way to say that the club is setup by your company as a way to get free advertising as oppose to you as the person.

It can actually make a lot of sense in many ways. Come to think of it, a lot of companies do that on sites such as Meetup and for the most part it does seem to work for them. This is as opposed to the person who is setting up the event saying it’s them as a person that is setting it up. Of course this is more meant for like solo entrepreneurs or small local businesses as opposed to a large corporations.

The argument though is that labeling it as a company organized event can sometimes limit the appeal where a person working for a competitor would be more inclined to avoid it as a result. I think for more casual events though people usually overlook that aspect as the majority will simply see it as like a fun activity that a business is willing to organize which makes it look more down to earth. Not too bad of a way to get free advertising in your community I suppose.
