In a nutshell it&#8217;s essentially a factor for Google to determine what information should be ranked the most useful or relevant in various topics.  It&#8217;s interesting to to see how many marketing firms and publications are now scrambling to get a head start such as trying to build up its social media contacts to the point that it&#8217;s almost like a gorilla style operation as they don&#8217;t want to be left behind.<\/p>\n<p>In many ways that is a good thing too where people are actively doing something as opposed to spending hours planning and thinking where by the time they decide what and how to do it everyone else would have already had a head start.
