In many ways, the news was so big that it put a lot of things on standstill.  Course, the best example is most TV stations start to broadcast only news in regards to that event.<\/p>\n<p>It almost made me think of how this is the equivalent of stopping business as a result of some kind of natural disaster as only certain industries can continue to operate as normal.  Usually at times like these I often see businesses actually going with the flow to continue trying to do business as usual.  So like in this case, somehow actually spreading the news as their own source\/hub.  That way they are attracting the crowd that would normally go to them anyways to still come as oppose to people leaving as they want to stay updated on such a big event.<\/p>\n<p>Makes a lot of sense when you think about.
