The teams would be ranked based on the artist’s physical makeover, press kit and value when it comes to garnering attention. For the women Cyndi Lauper was the project manager and for the men it was Bill Goldberg. Yes, it was very strange for a wrestler to be a project manager for a music task when the men had Bret Michaels. But the reasoning was that he never stepped up as a project manager before and so this was his opportunity to do so.

The two country singers that the teams had to choose from was Luke Bryan and Emily West. In the end it ended up as a gender sided match with Emily West going to the women and Luke Bryan going to the men. This episode was interesting as it kind of showed how when you try to develop a new image for a person many times they will be apprehensive about wanting to do anything new at all as they are afraid of change while alienating their current image. Trace Adkins made a guest appearance and was acting as an extra set of eyes in monitoring the teams.

There was one interesting scenario when it came to the men’s team as even though Goldberg was the project manager he pretty much gave Bret the reign to do everything. He implied that it was a bit weird too as he couldn’t exactly argue with the person who actually works in the industry. I was just thinking how that isn’t too farfetched when it comes to corporations as most of the time that is what happens where the person at the top in no way knows more the people at the bottom for various departments and therefore are reliant on them to do a job. So why would it be strange here?

Other than that there wasn’t anything too surprising business wise as most of the footage was just drama amongst team members. For the most part the men made Luke Bryan look a bit edgier and the women made Emily West a bit more stylish. I was just thinking that being on the show probably did more in terms of publicity for them as opposed to if I saw these makeovers for the first time and was judging the artists based on that.

In the end, the judges decided that the women had the best package and therefore they won. The firing wasn’t that surprising either as Trump kept pressing on Goldberg for being the project manager as well as Bret doing the majority of the work. So of course Goldberg was fired. There was a little tension at the end too as Bret said he was sick to his stomach and Trump kind of flamed him for saying that while implying he should be happy that he essentially won by not getting fired. Bret then threw out a sarcastic remark saying how happy he is now that a friend is gone.

Maybe it’s just me, but this episode felt like they were trying to drag it on while creating artificial drama to fill in the time. It would have been interesting to see the actual rebranding in action through some kind of sales test with say a certain demographic that has never heard of the artists. Of course, that would require some massive resources to pull off which I’m sure the producers wouldn’t want to do for one episode.

The task this time around was that the teams had to makeover two young country music artists.
