As well, one of the stipulations was that the teams had to choose one celebrity to be the spokesperson. The project manager for Rocksolid was Michael Johnson and for Tenacity it was Summer Sanders.

It was kind of interesting as both teams were debating on just which one of them would be the best spokesperson and there was a bunch of debate about what they thought was hot now and even things like how one looks. I would think that the most simple solution would be to try and focus on who is more well known along with their persona fitting in with the brand instead of trying to get too technical. The men ultimately decided to go with Curtis Stone because they felt that people were in a food craze era right now and the women went with Sharon Osbourne as it was determined she would be the most fitting/neutral it seems.

Both of the team’s concept was to make a campaign that focused in telling how everyone and anyone can be a victim of identity theft and as a result you need this product to protect you to have a peace of mind. And oh my goodness did this episode ever make Rod Blagojevich look silly and just elevated a stereotype about politicians.

Basically, Michael Johnson gave him a task to go on the Internet and find ten things in regards to cyber threats that people should be concerned about. It looked like Blagojevich couldn’t even operate a laptop let alone knowing how to get on the web. Then they inserted all these comments of him saying how when he was in office you usually had people do these types of things for you. This must be something that will haunt you in terms of public persona.

The men’s ad campaign was heavy content oriented whereas the women had a more visual presentation with very little text. For the men there was a lot of factoids about identity theft and how the product would help you. The women had this theme where Sharon Osbourne was like a protector of some sort who was constantly overlooking everyone. It is one of those situations where if you combined the two it would have been perfect.

Overall the executives didn’t seem too impressed overall. In tea Tenacity’s ad there was a crucial error as there was not even a phone number in the ad for people to buy the product. Even with that though, the executives preferred the ad of the women’s and they were the winner. There was an interesting twist at the end too as it seemed like Michael Johnson was going to get fired as he was pretty much just taking all the responsibility bluntly and diligently.

However, all of a sudden Darryl Strawberry says that he should be the one fired as he feels he did the least. Donald Trump then continually mentioned that he didn’t really think Darryl Strawberry meant that and followed it up with questions such as if he was tired and wanted to go home. Indeed, Darryl Strawberry said he was and there was a whole debacle on whether there was another reason why he wanted to be fired.

Michael Johnson was even implying that he didn’t want to stay based on the notion that someone quit and would rather have some get fired and allow Darryl Strawberry to quit if it came down to it. Strawberry kept emphasizing though that he is just volunteering because he didn’t want to see Michael take the hit. After much digging though Trump got Darryl to say that him wanting to go home was indeed a factor. As a result, he was fired.

There was a lot of commentary at the end on how everyone couldn’t believe that Strawberry just quit and as a result left his charity with nothing. Would have been interesting if Trump went on his “loser” rant about people who quit. Guess it’s not something you can exactly do freely with more well known people.

The task this time around was that the two teams and to create a four page ad tutorial for Lifelock and Norton.
