Well, today it was kind of an interesting thought as we noticed that a lot of the areas are going to have power outages because there needs to be some maintenance done, and they gave people a specific time frame and it was very general. For example, from 9 PM to 6 AM, so it could happen at any time.

Now usually during nighttime, I have to use the computer a lot to render files, for example, and while it could run as a laptop with its own battery, usually you can’t use its full power unless it’s actually plugged in. So that gave me an extra incentive to get things done quicker that required the computer at full power. And so I got to work and I finished everything pretty quickly actually, way earlier than before. And to make it crazy, it’s actually about six hours before when I would normally finish, because normally I would spread these tasks out because there’s nothing really urgent about it, so I’m kind of relaxing. But when I really have to push it, this is usually how fast I can finish it, which makes you wonder whether or not you can make your life more productive as long as you dedicate specific time to actually finish one task in particular.

I know people often find it funny too because there are some people who work at home but they insist on still getting some type of office space because they find there are fewer distractions, because when someone’s at home, they’re more likely to go grab something to eat, they’re more likely to be more relaxed overall, whereas when you’re in an office environment there’s not much for you to do other than to get the work done.

So it kind of gives you perspective on how some people need that type of structure in order to be more productive. So that’s something to think about. If you always say you don’t have enough time, maybe it’s because you’re not actually finishing things as quickly as you could, just because of procrastination. That’s something you could work on because when you’re given a real deadline with real consequences, potentially if you don’t finish, you bet you will find ways to finish it quicker.

Procrastination is one of those things that can really get you when you’re trying to get work done, as you could just mindlessly wander off watching a little clip online or potentially even watching a TV show because you just assume, eh, you have a lot of time so the work can wait.
