Today, I watched an interesting video about a company in Russia that was using a robot to greet customers and interact with them. It sounds like a novel idea for a high-tech company, and it would probably impress a lot of people, especially if you\u2019re making videos of it. But that\u2019s where things went wrong.<\/p>\n
As you can see from the security footage they posted, the robot apparently wasn\u2019t working properly. It seems like it malfunctioned while greeting a customer, maybe during a handshake or something similar. The customer then tapped the robot quite hard, and that\u2019s when it went completely crazy. It started kicking aggressively, as if it were trying to fight people. The staff quickly tried to stop it.<\/p>\n
This incident makes you think twice about using flashy new tech in your business. Would you really be willing to put a robot like this in your store, knowing it could potentially do something dangerous? If it had actually hurt a customer, the liability for the business would be enormous. As cool as it may seem, I don\u2019t think we\u2019re quite there yet with these robots reliably handling everyday interactions, especially without constant monitoring.<\/p>\n
I know many restaurants are successfully using robot servers, and for the most part they seem to do a fine job. But when it comes to customers freely touching and interacting with them, there are still too many unknowns, and the liability risk is through the roof.<\/p>\n
Either way, it seems like the business is trying to milk the moment for attention. I\u2019m not sure this is the kind of publicity you\u2019d actually want for your brand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
