There was a lot of press recently for some reason about a former art teacher from China who has somehow ended up homeless in Richmond BC as something happened in the past few years. While I won\u2019t get into the specifics, it does make me think of all those stories of people being highly regarded in their own country only to not have things like credentials recognized once they go to a new country. Example, a common story I hear is how a lot of taxi drivers were actually say doctors or engineers in their home country.<\/p>\n
It kind of makes you think if learning a general trade skill may be better overall if you are planning to blindly just move to start a new life in a different place. I know for my family lineage here one way they ended up making a decent income was to open up a grocery store. I know a lot of immigrants actually open up hot dog stands and they make a very good living. I think Japadog is one of the most famous examples here. The odds of success can seem better than trying to land a job as say a pharmacist if you don\u2019t have local degrees.<\/p>\n
It is interesting to think about how so many immigrants become entrepreneurs more out of necessity as they can\u2019t get hired otherwise for their original lie of work. That should mean with all your advantages of being born here you should be able to do the same or better if you always wanted to open a business.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
