Recently I decided to sue Samsung Canada and a cell phone repair store called CPR by Assurant here in Vancouver for their handling of mt phone issues regarding what seems to be a well-known issue with firmware related boot loops causing the phone to die. Long story short, Samsung Canada approved a courtesy repair where I actually shopped everything to them only to then deny it alleging that they found authorized tape and glue in the phone. The only other place I brought it to was their authorized partner store CPR and it resulted in the both of them for months it seems trying to deflect responsibly and so I decided to sue them.<\/p>\n
Now there was a choice to go to small claims court. However, here in BC we have this thing called the civil resolution tribunal which can create legally binding decisions just like a court except this is supposed to be more people friendly. You make a claim, they can then serve the parties and then you wait for the process to go on. The drawback is you are limited to $5000 in damage claims, but that should be okay for my case.<\/p>\n
I did read before how another individual actually sued Samsung in the same process as it was related to phone trade in values where the company gave him less than he expected. The guy won that portion but failed to get additional punitive damage claims where he was asking for $1000 for that. So this will be interesting as many times companies don\u2019t expect consumers to take it this far. So it will be interesting to see how this works out as I have so much documented and tangible proof. If it works well, it should make businesses think twice before just swaying people off.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
