However, when it comes to a bigger item like say a printer they could literally only be making like $5 from that purchase which is exactly why they hope the customer will buy all the extra additions with their purchase. It\u2019s a great way to really understand if you are getting a good deal versus just looking at the sales signs.<\/p>\n
Even watching shows like Shark Tank can give you a lot of insight in these ways as the entrepreneurs are often asked about their product margins where again sometimes the difference is astronomical. You can use this knowledge to better understand what a general price should be at to be considered as a deal while balancing how the company needs to make money too.<\/p>\n
Sometimes this research can show you which companies have a habit of charging premium prices just for the brand. I remember in recent times the camera company Hasselblad got a lot of heat where people researched about the new cameras they came out with appeared to literally be rebranded Sony cameras where the prices were say two times as much as just buying the original Sony. That should be a good sign to stay clear as they are clearly making too much for most people\u2019s taste considering it is just a repackaged product.<\/p>\n
