With all the talks of tariffs between Canada and the US it seems that even though there has been a pause on the issue people are promoting the idea of buying everything local as much as possible. Businesses are even spending money on billboards and other forms of advertisement to make it apparent that they are a Canadian made company. At the same time, some people are just finding it un-economical to buy everything local either due to the cost of the items or just the availability in general.<\/p>\n
One funny topic was how apparently a lot of the toilet paper here actually comes from other countries. Imagine avoiding items like that for the sake of trying to keep your purchases local. Even before all this I usually try and buy locally made items whenever possible such as if I see a bag of carrots originating from a farm here I would rather buy that. Theoretically the quality should be better too with the less travel time and all.<\/p>\n
But even I would admit if one item locally costs ten dollars and the other is say $1 for virtually the same thing minus the fact that you are paying for branding and marketing even I would likely purchase the $1 item. Buying locally still means the business should try their best to be competitive too quality and price wise.
