This got me thinking today as I was looking to buy a new portable SSD and the price was the same online and in-store at various. At first I thought I would visit a local store to get it. When I went in I went to the computer section looking for the item as this is usually where you find it. A person then approached me asking if I needed help and I showed him the item I was looking for. He told me that everything was kept at the checkout at the front and that I just simply go there. So, I did.<\/p>\n
Upon going there I was waiting and there didn\u2019t seem to be anyone there to help. There was a customer service desk that was dealing with returns and at the checkout there was no employees with some customers waiting at the counter. Funny enough, the guy that directed me there walked by and went behind the customer service desk to count some items it seemed. With no help in sight, I just left the store.<\/p>\n
Having worked in a retail environment before this reminded how whenever you can you should actively try and help with the sale if you can or actually bring them to the area they need to be. This prevents a situation of the customer getting lost or worst they go to the area and no-one is there. As with my example, I just left and they lost a sale. It\u2019s just funny to actually experience it myself.<\/p>\n
It makes me wonder if that will be a thing online as well with the rise of AI bots acting as customer service representatives where you will have these \u201cassistants\u201d guide you from beginning to end as opposed to just directing you to various pages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
