One day till Christmas here and as expected there are still a lot of people scrambling to find last minute gifts. While there are usually still sales at many places, there are some businesses that actual jack up the prices specifically to take advantage of desperate shoppers. In some ways you can\u2019t blame them if it\u2019s all about money since they are trying to maximize profits. But it makes you think if it is better to have the opposite attitude in the sense of you would rather use great deals to further convince people to continually shop from you after this occasion.<\/p>\n
I know for myself I would tend to revisit a business if I found exactly what I was looking for at a great price. Especially if it was my first time, it would make me curious to see if the deals are always great. On the other hand, if I knew one place was price gouging I would be inclined not to visit again unless I really had to. That might work better for businesses that are heavily dependent on mostly tourist traffic. But for a business that relies on regular locals to visit the immediate financial gain may be a mistake versus having the opportunity to further establish oneself in the community.<\/p>\n
I would tend to be consistent with the pricing too if I ran a retail business. I think all the times I have ever seen people raise prices in these conditions have often been the most deceitful overall in various aspects of a business. Bad warranty, low quality customer service, etc. Building a relationship with the customer is just as important as they can be the best form of advertisement through public praises of their great experience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
