With a lot of businesses operating online only there was an interesting debate I heard om whether or not one should just simply charge customers in US funds even though they are based here in Canada. While there is the argument that it is simply a mor standard currency that people globally will accept, the other reasons I heard from people is that they can simply make more money this way. A lot of China based companies do this as an example and you can bet they make a lot of money that way as companies can price its merchandise closer to local US store prices to make more.<\/p>\n
This is versus pricing the product based on a standard of living and competition locally which may be extremely cheaper in comparison to the global market rate. I remember one time I was asked to do some contract work and was just going to quote it in Canadian dollars. But the person that wanted me for the job just asked me to bill it in US dollars. I literally used my same rate I would have asked for in Canadian funds into US funds instead and they were okay with that.<\/p>\n
I suppose that was a perfect example on if you can than why not if it is an acceptable global rate too? This wouldn\u2019t work well I you have an actual physical store that people shop in of course.
