While talking with some other business owners recently, it’s just surprising on the type of things some people say or do without thinking how bad it will hurt their chances in being considered for the role. Believe me, for the most part when you bring someone in for an interview you hope that they will turn out to be good as it costs time and money to bring someone in. So for fun and to help others recognize on what you shouldn’t do, here are some examples presented in a light-hearted way on what to do if your goal is to do badly at a job interview:

1) It’s All About You

When you go into the interview, simply tell them how you are the greatest person in the world and that your accomplishments in life make every other candidate look like an amateur compared to you. It doesn’t matter what the company needs because as long as they hire you the business will automatically benefit from your emitting presence.

2) Walk In Without Any Knowledge or Interest In The Company

Explain clearly how you are interested in the position because you need a job as you have no more money left to buy things or how you need to pay off that loan. Just tell them you are not really sure what the company is about or bothered to read a little about it as you simply answered an advertisement and are currently exploring other job options as well.

3) Simply Demand For The Job Based On Your Own Terms

Just to make everything easier and to speed up the process, just tell the interviewer that they need to hire you right now as they are making a big mistake if they choose someone else over you. Also be frank on how you will not work for anything less than what you want even if it means the business has to layoff a few people just to afford being able to hire you.

4) Explicitly Tell Them How Bad Your Past Employer or Job Was

When you go into an interview, the person wants to try to get a better understanding of your professional history and working relationship with your past employers. This is your Oprah moment to show them how bad all of your past jobs were and that it is a tragedy on how unfairly the world has been treating you.

5) If You Can’t Answer a Question Just Stare At The Wall

You know what they say, if you don’t know the answer just don’t say anything to avoid embarrassing yourself from saying something bad. Instead, just pick a spot on the wall that looks fascinating to you until they move on to the next question.

6) Don’t Look At The Interviewer Eye To Eye

Being observant is usually a good trait to demonstrate, so when answering questions keep looking around the room to demonstrate this.

7) Personal Hygiene Wasn’t In The Job Requirement, So Don’t Worry About It

It should be all about your skill and so it shouldn’t matter if you walk in with ripped attire or traces of the meal you had before you came in for the interview. Also, your goal is to get the interviewer’s attention and to remember you and what better way to do that than with bad breathe that will leave your mark in the room throughout the day?

Okay, so obviously you don’t want to do these types of things. Some may think that these are a little too obvious on the things you shouldn’t do, but surprisingly you see these types of things happen every day. Not only that, but you often see people justify it in a similar manner such as coming in the interview with ripped attire as they say how there was no mention of a dress code for the interview. I’ve always found that by demonstrating things in an over exaggerating way helps to plant the information in people’s mind a little easier, so hopefully this helps people who are struggling in doing well at an interview.

For some companies, it is that time of the year to start hiring more people as business is going great and to maintain that momentum you need to find the right people.
