You often wonder why there are so many warnings and disclaimers on company products as there is jus so much liability otherwise. I was reading this story that talked about how a family was suing Google for the death of a driver who apparently drove through a collapsed bridge. The basis pf the lawsuit it seems is that Google was aware of this notice for the bridge but failed to update it on its application. It is said that this bridge had collapsed nine years ago too.<\/p>\n
I would imagine if they had warnings that the data bay not be accurate then they would be semi safe. But since people do use it for real-time information as well that is probably trickier here. Can you imagine pitching people in using your app for commuting to get say frequent traffic update only for a big disclaimer to pop up that it may not be accurate?<\/p>\n
It\u2019s almost like a company in that sense just has to take the risk like most things in order to get a product or service out to market. Or simply reserving funds for the potential of having to pay for lawsuits like these in hopes that the profit outweighs it as if it is a business expense. I know for some businesses like a media organization they expect to get into legal trouble to get a story as an example. Will be interesting if they actually start to plaster disclaimers everywhere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
