I was reading news today on how the company Sobeys have had their systems compromised with ransomware. As you would expect, a lot of their computers had messages demanding that they pay up or else their information will be released publicly as an example. What was insetting based on reports though was that the company didn\u2019t seem very eager to let the public know even though it would affect so many customers such as ones that rely on pharmacy prescriptions.<\/p>\n
It makes you wonder, as the business would you feel it would be too publicly embarrassing to admit these types of incidents where you just hope no one will notice as an example? While I guess that could work if everything goes in your favour, but in the event like these where it doesn\u2019t that is one heck of a mess that will be hard to recover from. <\/p>\n
If it deals with data of the customers too I don\u2019t see why you wouldn\u2019t immediately try and alert everyone. Because if people\u2019s information such as credit cards start to get compromised then the company\u2019s inaction can probably destroy the e consumer trust forever. This is versus notifying everyone and hoping they will at least be understanding that this is an unfortunate isolated incident that can happen to anyone.
