Today I was in a store in the Metrotown mall area and it was kind of an odd visit. At the checkout register there was this lady employee who didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t care too much about her physical appearance it seemed as you can pretty much see a goatee growing on her. I suppose that is a personal choice and so I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t say much about it.<\/p>\n
There was then a kid that was buying an item and he was asking her if she knew whether or not it was fun to play. She responded in a rather impatient way where she told the kid that he should just read the instructions as she is too busy working to read things for him. This was in-front of his parents too. While I would normally attribute this to the person having a bad day, in this case that just seemed like her regular personality. <\/p>\n
This also made me wonder how the company could allow the person to even be working like this. Granted the role she was doing wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t exactly rocket science as she was simply checking items out, this is essentially the last impression you will get of doing business with the store. Like for myself, I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t help now but to have that image of a grumpy lady who scolds kids as the image for the store in terms of the customer service.<\/p>\n
I can imagine the management decision too where it was simply \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Just hire anyone that is available and can process orders\u00e2\u20ac\u009d without any extreme worries about the person\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s persona and how it may affect repeat business. Like in this case, it kind of shows the importance of having a consistent policy as to one\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s image as every person in a business is a reflection of the company as a whole to the customer.<\/p>\n
It might be cheaper to hire people too like the above, but in the end you will pay for it even more I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d say in sales as a result.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
