That can be a little troublesome as you have no experience with a particular business.  When I arrived everything seemed professional and all which was nice.  What really got me thinking is how the barber started to ask me some basic questions since he had never seen me before and once I answered the conversation pretty much ended as he was focused on doing the work.<\/p>\n<p>This is a contrast to what  I am used to where at times the barber would often carry on a casual conversation as they are cutting people\u2019s hair.  In this case though, there was very little talk as the person did an efficient job where I was in and out fairly quickly.  That got me thinking as in these types of businesses I know some people prefer to have a conversation with their barber and some just want to get their hair cut and leave.<\/p>\n<p>I usually prefer to learn a little about the people doing the work in these types of businesses since these services sort of revolve around getting to know what people need while being able to communicate with them in a way that they can relate to.  I guess it\u2019s kind of like how a doctor has a friendly chat at times with patience if the situation isn\u2019t dire.  I would imagine for a retail store too it could be okay if the person was processing your order efficiently while still being able to ask you how your day was and all.<\/p>\n<p>I think the main time where it wouldn\u2019t be a good idea is if you as the customer is the one having to do something.  For example, imagine playing a game at the arcades where you need to focus and the employee starts asking you if you like the weather.  Or if you went to restaurant and t employee insists in chatting with you where you can\u2019t enjoy your meal.  But if you can I think it can be a great way to establish rapport and potentially encouraging a person to be a regular customer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was thinking today as I was in a different area and decided to get a hair cut.
