There were reports recently how companies like Google will offer its employees the opportunity to stay working from home if they wish as many people have found it a lot better during the pandemic. For example, not having to drive to work can save you a lot of time and money. But that\u2019s what was interesting as apparently for people who wish to work from home will receive a pay cut. If someone works on-site at the exact same job they will get paid more than the person who works from home.<\/p>\n
So aside from the debate on whether or not that is the right thing to do as a company, given the option would you actually take the pay cut for the convenience of working from home? For example sake let\u2019s say the salary would normally be $50,000 a year which would drop to $45,000 a year. I would imagine that really comes down to the situation such as if someone is a parent with a newborn then saying home can make sense financially even with the pay cut.<\/p>\n
As well, it depends on the travel. If the commute literally takes up three hours of your time each day as an example I can only imagine that it would be worth it to work at home. Unless logistically you have to travel through the area for other things on a regular basis of course. I can imagine for some jobs through the pay would always be the same such as pizza delivery services where people actually do everything from home in many cases as the person that answers phone calls.
