There was definitely a lot of news recently about a shooting that happened in Atlanta where a lot of the victims happened to be of Asian descent. As many people know there has been a spur of hostility towards Asian people by many ever since COVID became a thing as many people just associate it as a China originated virus and therefore any Asian people in general must have the virus.<\/p>\n
So with this news of a mass shooting there seems to be a lot more people raising their voices on the topic to the point where it feels like businesses are starting to make decisions to support Asians. Otherwise if you are the only one not doing so then I would imagine that would be bad PR. Some of the comments though really made me think if it was true or not where some were saying it\u2019s because they don\u2019t see enough Asian people playing key roles in a corporation overall or how in TV and film usually in North America you would see most Asian people in bottom of the barrel types of roles.<\/p>\n
Does seeing more people of a specific ethnicity in mainstream media change your view in regards to perception and stereotypes? Some argue it doesn\u2019t whereas many would say it indeed effects one\u2019s view in terms of what people can and can\u2019t be in life. I can just say from my own experience I am definitely always stereotyped for the most part it seems based on how movies usually show an Asian person which definitely influences any business related work many times.<\/p>\n
But it will be interesting to see if this will have any similar effects like all the Black Lives Matter influence from last year where many companies made immediate change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
