For example, keeping people a safe distance from others is highly more effective overall. So regardless of people feeling otherwise the doctors haven’t made it mandatory.

Until recently of course which makes you wonder what potentially caused them to flip? All the articles I read seemed to indicate that business pressure had a lot to do with it. For example reading this CTV article it stated the following:

“Henry said the sudden reversal was due to increasing public pressure, including from businesses, some of which have expressed concerns about putting the onus of enforcing piecemeal policy onto workers.”

That’s kind of interesting where it would imply that the doctor was doing what she felt was right with general social pressure to do otherwise may have been a bit much. But the article does say in terms of who is responsible for making this decision it stated this:

“The mask mandate isn’t being implemented by public health order, but by B.C. Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth under the extraordinary powers granted by the province’s record-breaking state of emergency, Henry said.”

It made me think of people who want to run their business the best way possible. However, if people start demanding that you give them stuff that you feel doesn’t help but it is more for psychological reasons would you actually do it? For example, if technically cramming up people in a bus with no spacing is theoretically disastrous in regards to spreading the virus yet people think a cloth mask will protect them 100% would you actually just give them what they want and ride the bus jammed pack with the masks on?

I think a common example actually is with buildings. Many people feel the number 13 is unlucky and refuse to reside on that floor. As a result many people just do what people want where it literally goes to the 12th to 14th floor. An interesting dilemma which I think is probably more common than one thinks.

I was reading the news recently about how our health officials announced the mandatory mask requirements which was a little odd as the official stance has always been the masks may help but it is not the most important factor of preventing virus transmission.
