One of the key advice during these pandemic times is for people to wash their hands in an effort to prevent transmission of viruses. However, it seems like some people feel buying more expensive solutions automatically means it is actually more effective. One interesting example I saw the other day was with expensive hand sanitizers.

The other day I went to a restaurant to catch up with a person and as the food arrived he immediately went to grab the food with his hands. I reminded him that he should wash his hands first. I got up and was going to quickly go to the washroom to wash my hands and for him he didn’t do that. Instead he used the hand sanitizer which was definitely the more expensive option. On a side note, I actually read that washing your hands is actually still better than the hand sanitizer route.

But it did me think if during these times we are wasting money on stuff that isn’t as effective. It reminds me of news reports I saw where they tested these fruit cleaning liquids that is supposed to wash them very thoroughly. However, after testing it seemed like just running the fruit through plain water was the same if not better at times. That liquid costs like $10 too it seems for about 500ml worth. Think again I guess if you think breaking the bank automatically means more protection from viruses.
