I couldn’t believe this the other day as I encountered a person who seemed to have a lot of free time in visiting various communities that relate to an industry that he is commercially invested in. What he was doing was going around advertising himself as a person who is more qualified than everyone else to do specific work. Therefore, people should hire him for the job instead. What was odd is how when you looked at his actual portfolio it seemed rather amateurish to say the least. On his page he does indeed list a bunch of credentials that sound impressive. Upon further inspection these were most from private institutions of sort that offered weekend classes. After completion they give people a certificate of completion.

It’s not very much to gloat about as it’s almost the equivalent to completing a night school course for a week. But to the average person I suppose this can sound extremely impressive. I guess as a consumer this is why you should always try and do a little background checking whenever a person or company lists all these certificates. Otherwise it would be like buying a product where it says it is endorsed by some doctor that just ends up being someone who took a quick online course as an example.

People even do it with awards such as entering into festivals of sort where the entry fee can be hundreds of dollars. It looks really good to the majority when you say “award winning” as an example. Are just so many smoke and mirrors in the business world I guess you can say? Sometimes it’s more about judging people based on the work they have done as opposed to what a piece of paper states.
