It seems like every day there is someone saying that the things you were taught in school was a complete lie as there is a better way to do something. Recently the topic about harnessing and working on one\u2019s skill-set came up. Usually we are taught that to get better at something we need to practice and that we are only as good as our weakest point. So we need train the things we aren\u2019t good at. Well that is where the controversy came in as there was an opinion that if you are trying to find what you are good at to make a living in life then you should always just focus on your strengths.<\/p>\n
For example, if your skill is playing basketball then it would be weird to try and make sure your ice skating skills are just as good. Like there you should just focus on basketball related skills because you need to be the best at that to compete with others in the same industry. This would go the same for running say a restaurant. If you are the best cook then that is what you should constantly focus on which is cooking food. This is as opposed to trying to be say an a interior designer.<\/p>\n
I suppose it is true in many ways. Kind of makes you wonder though where when you are a solo entrepreneur you often have to wear multiple hats. For example, if you literally ran a mom and pop restaurant you essentially have to be like the chef, marketer, buyer, accountant and so forth. But would you literally spend like a year learning to be an expert accountant in this case? Highly unlikely and I don\u2019t think that would be a good idea.<\/p>\n
Although one funny thing about school is how people say they dread the years in high school when they are forced to learn stuff they have no passion in. While the later grades are harder people often enjoy it more and do better when it is something they are passionate about while being good at it. But like there is it good to improve your weaknesses as well?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
