Recently I was reading how there was going to be a Walmart opening up at a large mall where to my understanding when they first came into Canada there were a ton of places that denied them the ability to setup stores in various places. I believe one of the reasons are that people were afraid that they would do what they did in the US in terms of crushing all other businesses. So because of that they were often denied rent.<\/p>\n
But in the mall there has been this vacant spot for years which was originally occupied by Target Canada. I guess after all this time with no one else able to rent so much space Walmart finally got the rights to do so. It did make me think of the notion where if you ran a business with like this situation would you rather lose millions each year or simply let a company that you don\u2019t really like rent it?<\/p>\n
I would imagine you would only really have the luxury to pick and choose people if it is a small niche type of business like some kind of specific consulting firm. I couldn\u2019t imagine like a busy retail store being picky on who can shop from its store. Another factor in this example though would you ever even think about long-term community implications in doing business with companies or is it all just about taking care of yourself first? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
