I was surprised to read some new scams lately where it was reported that certain schools offering online course are being duped by AI bots that pose as a student where essentially fake people are getting educational funding as part of attending these schools. Like here, they aren’t attending themselves at all where the bots stay just long enough to get the credit and the person profits. What’s scary is the bots can reply and interact just like a human. So, unless you are literally conducting real-time video classrooms with ID checks ahead of time this is probably a big problem.
Imagine this for other things in the future such as people getting full scholarships except the profiles are all completely fake. Or, someone getting relocation money to attend a new job only for the applicant to be fake as they take the money and run. I suppose this is one disadvantage for being too digital in the business world as it makes it harder to verify if you are speaking to real people.
Are you prepared to have security in place to detect real people versus an AI bot?
