Each year I usually put some money aside as my entertainment expensive to do whatever such as attending events or dining out with people as you have to experience new things as well in life with your hard-earned money. This year I ended up not spending much actually on those activities. So instead, I was thinking of interesting it in some better tools for my side projects which in-turn can actually generate money if it works out.
I actually have fun working on these too so I am not do it specifically as a business. But if it generates an income I won’t complain. It makes you think how you could spend money this way out of habit too in terms of doing things you are passionate about such as crafting or teaching people a skill where investing in tools can make you closer to what a professional does. Who knows as maybe your work will be good enough for people to want to pay you instead.
If it doesn’t work out then you are still doing it for fun anyways. Not a bad win-win situation I think as a way to allocate unspent funds that would have otherwise been used in a few hours at say a restaurant.
