I was actually eyeing this GoPro 12 action camera as the price I felt was a bit too expensive at over $500 just for the basic camera. However, it seems like for some reason every business has dropped the camera price to $399. Normally that would be the time to make a purchase, but funny enough I am still holding off based on industry news in the camera world.
There was this recent announcement from Canon that it will be unveiling a new cinema camera which a lot of people are excited about. So I wanted to see what they will be showing off as this is usually a sign that even more products will be announced in the near future. Now the funny thing is an action camera like the GoPro is completely different so you would think it should have no influence on my purchase. At the same time, this could be a reason why the company is dropping prices so that people can spend all their money now versus potentially losing them to a competitor.
One big factor too is the Olympics is coming and companies are scrambling to release their new cameras as they want people to use their products for those moments that will last forever. This is a good example too how reading industry news can be a great way to stop impulsive purchases and to semi ensure you are getting the best value without the buyer’s remorse if something better comes out in just a month or so.
