This was kind of a sad situation as I was reading about a person who spent thousands on a company’s product in hopes to one day potentially get say some kind of sponsorship deal. Apparently they did get on the company’s radar where the y publicly acknowledged his passion for the products. But of course, he wanted to say make money out of this as some kind of sponsored partner. He would literally travel to different places too where the company was holding events as he was in a sense promoting the company’s products for free.
In the end, he was spending so much money without getting any kind of deal that he eventually went broke. That’s sad and not a good business strategy per se. Usually if companies really want say sponsor people in these ways you don’t have to go to that extreme financially. There has to be something else that they think they can get out of you. In the mean time you are basically like a hardcore fan that pays thousands to attend every sports game of a local team as an example.
Most of the people that get those kinds of deals aren’t necessarily the biggest fans of the company but rather just people with a lot of clout and popularity in other avenues. So that should tell you if you want those opportunities, you should just focus in building say your actual business where you then become too big to ignore. Everyone will then come to you.
