Informing Customers of a Buyout or Not

There are these small electronic stores here called The Source where I am honestly surprised they are still in business as every time I walk by one there is usually no customers as most people think of other companies when they need computer and electronic items. Recently they were advertising this sale dubbed as a “store renovation” event and apparently there were some great deals that is more akin to businesses that were going bankrupt. Upon further reading, it would appear that the stores will be rebranded as a Best Buy express store of sort which would imply that they have been taken over or are exiting business entirely.

This got me to thing, if you were the business and got taken over buy a bigger player would you not want your customers to know that fact or would you rather just keep everyone in the dark where the next thing they know the store has completely changed? I guess for people who just walk by it wouldn’t change much for them as the place they go by still sells virtually the same items. I would be inclined to name the sales as such where the business will no longer be there. I would think they must have some loyal customer base that would like to know what’s going on.

Then again, perhaps that is what stunted their growth as they didn’t have a way to really establish a large community of sort as well.
