The other day I had a coupon for a fast food restaurant and I decided to use it as my dad really liked the soft drinks that were offered there. The coupon mentioned that if you purchased a burger at a regular price you would get fries and a drink for free. While that sounds pretty decent, the burger itself turned out to be over $6 with tax. Keep in mind this is a fast food restaurant too.
With prices like that how can people think it’s actually cheaper to dine at these places rather than shopping at the supermarket? If anything, you are simply paying for the convenience of not having to cook and clean up. It did get me curious to look at the prices from other similar places and it seemed like on average every place was offering meal combos at about $7 with tax. Imagine doing that for three meals a day which would be $21. If you all remember too, I did that welfare food challenge where I was able to buy a week worth of food for under $21.
It does make me wonder why many people still think it is cheaper to eat at a fast food restaurant. While granted there are deals to be found, overall the prices seem just as expensive as dining out in a more upscale restaurant. If you are on a budget, that should translate to having to shop and cook your own meals.
