Best Buy Discontinuing Physical Movie Sales

I’m actually surprised this hasn’t happened sooner where Best Buy confirmed recently that it plans to discontinue selling physical DVD and Blu Ray movies as a lot more people are simply watching things digitally nowadays. There seemed to be some people who mentioned how those were the main items that they go to the store to buy which is surprising to me. I can’t remember the last time I went into a retail store like this with the intent of buying a movie. Usually, it would be for hardware.

From the sounds of it they will still be selling physical copies of items such as video games. But from what I heard a lot of companies are even thinking of going purely digital as well when it comes to distribution. I actually prefer to have physical copies as it seems nicer as a collector’s item of sort. Plus I have found you often end up paying more nowadays for items like video games as the prices for them digitally is still expensive and you would then need to invest in storage for them.

Although with movies, while again it is nice to have the physical copy even I find myself just watching them digitally nowadays. I don’t have much of a collection for movies. That makes you wonder if people will start collecting them now knowing they will be a rare item.
