BC Wildfire Warnings And Any Preparation

There is a large wildfire spreading around the Kelowna area which is pretty far away from here in Vancouver. But apparently the situation has gotten worst as there is now officially a state of emergency. So that makes you wonder if one in areas further away should start investing in say food supplies early to avoid what happened during the lockdowns as an example. As well, would you also start to pack valuable belongings now just in case you are told the last minute to move?

It does make me wonder in the cases of say the Maui fires where people’s homes were literally burned down how would you actually ever prepare to keep say heavy belongings with little notice? The only way is to pretty much transport them to another location ahead of time. That isn’t viable for a lot of people to pay monthly storage fees as an example. Funny enough, when it comes to food I told some people to stock up on canned food just in case something happens again. But many did not prepare.

Generally speaking, there would probably have to be a fire more local to generate an evacuation here at the moment. It makes me start thinking though if there is anything I should invest in and how being ready to pack up and go on a whim during these times can be a good idea.
