Same Unadvertised Sales From Other Subsidiaries

Friday, January 13th, 2012 by

As mentioned the other day there was this one dollar sale that I thought I would check out. There seemed to be some good deals although a lot of the one dollar deals were junk food related items. One thing I did notice was that while this particular chain of stores advertised the deals, the interesting thing was with other store divisions of the company that operated under a different brand name had deals that were listed for about one dollar as well.

I suppose for some items they were using the same barcode price scanning figures and so when you buy the items they all register as the same. Usually different company divisions have different pricing though even though all of their inventory share a similar product code of sort. Someone made a boo boo i suppose in updating the prices. I guess that is a last resort lottery mentality type of way to snatch some sales if you missed out which is to visit other stores that are owned by the same parent company.

Boxing Day As An Onlooker

For the most part I didn’t do much shopping this boxing day as there weren’t too many deals for things that I actually needed. The interesting was as a result I just asked people what they were buying to see how good the deals were to make them go shopping. There was one funny thing we noticed at the malls. While a ton of stores had signs saying 50% off and so fourth this is actually the exact same sale the store had for the full last week of Christmas. So essentially, there were no real new deals. However, there indeed was still a large crowd.

It’s almost like people are shopping simply with a per-programmed mind that all the deals they see must be cheaper today. Too bad I didn’t actually take before and after photos of various stores and the sales signage just to show that a lot of places were indeed having the exact same sales. I suppose people wouldn’t normally notice this unless they went to the mall a lot too. There was no big line ups for me this year as online shopping saves so much more time. If anything, going to the mall was more for entertainment such as seeing how long lineups can get.
