Finding Out If People Actually Do The Work Themselves

Friday, January 18th, 2013 by

Today I was talking to a person how I thought certain companies were charging so much for some basic services that should otherwise be very easy. Sure enough, if you look at some of their competitors the rates are extremely different which then makes you wonder are they just that much better to justify the higher cost? He then threw a very valid point at me as he told me that most likely certain people are actually contracting others to do the work for them. Therefore, because they have to pay them while still making money for themselves this results in a higher price.

That is so true I thought and is often a point that people forget to research when they are doing business with a company. This can be a common thing when it comes to to like site creation, lawyer services or even home renovations. Many times companies will advertise that they can do it all whereas in reality they can’t do it themselves and rely on outside help to do the job. So this is a very simple point to research in an effort to save money as to whether or not the company does everything themselves or if they outsource it to others. If anything, knowing this detail you may be able to simply cut out the middle man and go straight to the people that actually do the work to save money too.

Replacing With New Technology Right Away

Friday, February 3rd, 2012 by

I was having a conversation with a person who seems super excited at all those new 3D printing technologies that have been showcased recently. For those who have not seen what this is you can get some basic information at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_printing

The interesting thing was how it sounded like he was already thinking of ways to use this technology for once it becomes more mainstream where he wants to completely change his business structure right away. That is a pretty fast decision if so I thought. Imagine it as like you normally run a business with typewriters and when a computer is going to be introduced you planned to completely switch over to that right away.

I can’t imagine that being a good idea as I’m sure like with most new technology they must be really expensive and not to mention you have to re-learn how to do things. Makes more sense to slowly introduce it into your business in many ways doesn’t it? I can see if it is something where it is simply a better and faster version of what you are already using, but things like this is a complete overhaul. Imagine trying to do that as a home consumer. I know for many people even things as common such as going from a traditional keyboard to a touchscreen is a lot to adjust too.

The Real Thing or A Toy

Sunday, December 11th, 2011 by

I was looking at these plastic kitchen toy sets for kids recently where you could buy things such as a mini oven where younger people can pretend to be cooking and all. They take up a lot of room as well. I then saw what appeared to be a plastic table and chair set where kids can pretend to have a tea party. For the most part it seemed like kid sized table where you can seat about four people. The surprising thing was the price as it was over $100.

I was just thinking, can’t you just buy a real table with chairs for about the same price? Especially for something those sizes it’s almost like buying a small table you would use to hold fruits on at an event. You can even buy say cheap chairs or stools to replicate pretty much the same thing. I’m sure this route will give you a lot more creative options as well in terms of trying to find the right set item. Guess the question is whether or not people would be inclined to just use it as say a toy set for the kids to play.

Such A Thing As Counterfeit Groceries

Friday, November 18th, 2011 by

Just the term itself got me intrigued. Counterfeit Groceries? Makes you wonder how a food can exactly be a counterfeit as just the thought of say an apple not being an apple is a little off the wall. But essentially what this is apparently is that a lot of bargain stores that sell things for like a dollar often sell some kind of food items as well. Many times there are products apparently that are imported and have not gone through any kind of screening and approval process like all other foods.

Therefore, things like the nutrition labels on the products can be completely inaccurate as they simply just want you to buy the products. That must be scary for things like multivitamins. You get what you pay for I guess you can say?

Similar Local Experience For Less Money

I was thinking the other day as my brother was saying how he went to the states with his family for a quick vacation and they ended up visiting a zoo which I guess entertained the kids and all. That made me think of all the travelling expenses that were involved and how different if any the experience would have been if you were to visit a local zoo.

I think many times you would be surprised at just how much of your own town that you have yet to fully explore. The experience can be just like travelling to a new city in many ways. Not having to spend extra money on items like a hotel can add up to doing a lot more activities.
