Expenses For Quick Ideas

Sunday, November 30th, 2008 by Alan Yu

So I am in the midst of writing all the content for that niche site idea and one thing of course that is required are items such as web hosting. Now normally when it comes to these types of expenses I don’t go for the cheapest provider but rather reliability is an important factor. That usually translates to spending a bit more than average.

Like with things such as web hosting I could probably go as cheap as about $2 a month or as high as $10 just for some basic requirements. The tricky thing is with sudden ideas like these you tend to want to see how well it does before you really want to invest too much as even if you are doing it for non monetary reasons you would preferably not want to lose money.

At the same time, there are those chances where it could do well where it would have been wiser to invest in a good infrastructure and setup from the start. For this one though I am going to use kind of an unorthodox mentality. Essentially, I am going to use good quality providers with the expectation that it will do good to justify the expense and if not then I will downgrade afterwards.

The reason being is that due to the nature of using the Internet as a platform for getting your ideas across and that I expect a surge for this topic, one little hiccup could usually mean a massive loss in opportunity. Considering we are not talking about massive expense figures here like say $2000/month in some building rental, there are more odds that one would have more to gain than lose in this scenario I’d say.

Determining Which Ideas To Act Upon

A lot of times when it comes to trying to start something new for financial gains the biggest hurdle is actually getting started. Example, most people rightfully have a skeptical attitude such as wondering how much they can make and potentially lose. As a result, most ideas normally get placed on the shelf.

When it comes to starting something new I think for me the mindset is usually where if I had to do everything myself would I still be able to do it? Example, If I wanted to grow some kind of garden and sell the vegetables can I grow them myself without outside help?

Now ultimately I think most people would agree that time leveraging is what you should be aiming for which means you don’t want to do everything yourself in a sense, but if you are starting out and don’t have millions of disposable income, making sure that you can do all or most of the important aspects of your operations is the important factor for me personally when it comes to choosing what crazy idea to try out.
