I was talking to a friend today as we have a business idea that we are currently trying to flesh out. One interesting topic that was brought up is how the both of us want to create the business where we won’t be tied down in a traditional sense such as having to be at a specific location in order to conduct operations.

As a result, for a lot of the ideas that came up we had to throw in a factor on whether or not we could manage the idea remotely through say partnerships with other companies as well. A lot of people would find this a little unorthodox as usually you should just focus in having a great idea and then a plan to make it happen while having to sacrifice a lot until you make it.

At the same time, if the idea was originally created as a supplemental item, then making sure that it will fit in your lifestyle is just as important to make sure that the idea won’t be stuck on the shelf I’d say.

Recently I was reading about this fitness type of club here where the fee to enroll into the program can literally cost thousands of dollars a year. Interestingly enough, most of the participants are kids where parents enroll them into a program to hopefully get more exercise I suppose. At the same time, I was reading how that business uses high pressure sales tactics to get people to sign contracts to tie them down.

General fitness is one of those things where I have always just did on my own as I never saw the value in having to pay for say a gym membership and spending say $1000. In many ways it kind of reminds me of renting where in this case for $1000 I can probably make my own gym that would be adequate for my needs.

Fitness too is one of those things that are pretty easy to do even with a busy lifestyle which even furthers my thought on how in this category you should try to save as much money as possible. Need some exercise? Walk instead of using a vehicle when possible. Think you need expensive weights for more intense workouts? There are a lot of exercises that you can do which require you to use/lift your own body weight that can be just as good.

A good thing too with this route is that more than likely you need to find a way to adapt it into your lifestyle making it a more permanent solution. Therefore, this will also prevent the quick fix mentality which is usually why a lot of people simply spend a lot of money on fitness items I’d say. Example, you need to get in shape and so buying a membership is suppose to be a sign that you are doing something.

So if you really need to save money and this is a huge chunk of your expenses, I would personally start looking at ways to cut back expense wise by incorporating different routines in your daily life.

I was asked an interesting question where if I was in a situation where money was going to be an issue, would my first reaction be to find a way to make or save more money? While ideally I guess I would do both, my personal mentality is to usually focus in finding a way to make more money.

I personally feel in these types of situations, and assuming you are already pretty good with money in general, making more money gives you more potential to discover new opportunities that may be a better fit for your current lifestyle.

For example, I know for myself when it comes to saving money it is more about finding ways to use what I already have and do while making it work better. On the other hand, making more money usually involves having to step out of my comfort zone to potential create something that can vastly change my current situation.

As well, when it comes to making more money I specifically mean trying to do something different as opposed to say someone asking their employer for a raise at their existing job. Especially if the situation arose as a result of an outside factor that usually entails that you have to do something drastically different to adapt to the situation. It could be simply doing additional side work or starting a part time business.

Like everything too, the more you practice the better you will be at it. In these cases, it’s usually fear that stops people from seriously discovering additional ways to earn an income and so the more you do the more likely you can create viable streams of income to fill whatever financial needs that you have.

Just the other day one of my family members was complaining that their computer was really slow. As a result, they asked me how much it would cost to upgrade it as their machine is literally almost 8 years old. Now since I knew that they only used it for word processing and the Internet, there was no real reason to buy a new computer.

So, I went over to check out it and sure enough it took horrendously long to boot up as well as doing simple stuff such as browsing the web. I told them that they could probably buy a new machine for about $400 or so which would be way better than what they have, but I mentioned that I could probably speed it up.

I then did the most basic things such as uninstalling programs that they never use as well as disabling unnecessary programs that boot up in the beginning. Not surprisingly, everything then booted up lightning fast and they mentioned that it seemed even faster than when they first bought it. They were happy that they didn’t have to spend more money too.

That goes to show that many times instead of spending an enormous amount of money buying brand new things, it doesn’t hurt to ask someone who is knowledgeable about the item to see if all you need is a little tune up here and there to get things performing to an acceptable level.
